OSBLOCK™ – CHANGING HOUSING ONE BLOCK AT A TIME

The revolutionary home building concept developed by OSBlock is about to make a major breakthrough in Mexico. The leaders of the Saint-Henri-de-Taillon company have signed contracts worth several million dollars which will result in the construction of 900 schools and hundreds of houses. A second plant could even see the light of day before the end of the year in Lac-Saint-Jean.
The new international agreements represent millions of dollars for the Lac-Saint-Jean company, which employs about fifteen people.

The OSBlock company has won several contracts in Mexico that will allow the construction of 900 schools and a hundred houses.

“I spent a month in Mexico working every week. We even made presentations to the deputies of what is the Mexican equivalent of the National Assembly,” said the president and founder of OSBlock, Marco Tremblay.
Barely a year after the launch of its unique product, the Jean-based company has pulled off a masterstroke by concluding several contracts on Mexican soil. The last few days will have, among other things, allowed the signing of an agreement to build 900 schools. Of this number, about a hundred buildings result from the reconstruction carried out following the earthquakes of September 2017. Hundreds of houses will also be built thanks to other contracts. OSBlock’s arrival in Mexico comes at a pivotal moment. “It’s a very big market. Right now, there are 20 million homes missing in Mexico. We should not expect to supply a million houses, but we can think of obtaining 1%, 2% or 3% of the market,” explains Marco Tremblay.

The company based on the outskirts of Saint-Henri-de-Taillon has managed to carve out a place for itself in the country which has more than 130 million inhabitants for several reasons. The speed of installation, the resistance of the product to earthquakes and its insulation have made these building modules a choice option. The Mexican government increasingly favors earthquake-resistant buildings. Mr. Tremblay argues that the block-mounting mechanics of his concept are no strangers to Mexican construction.

The last few days will also have made it possible to add a few Quebec agreements to OSBlock’s already busy order book. The Jean-born entrepreneur sums up his participation in the ExpoHabitation show in Montreal as a resounding success. Hundreds of orders for the revolutionary structural wall system were made during the event. “It’s been a year since we launched the product at the Olympic Stadium in Montreal. This year, the distribution network is established. People have seen the product on TV and on social media. Here we go, ”assures Marco Tremblay.

Barely a year after the launch of its innovative concept, OSBlock is working on the construction of a second factory in Saint-Henri-de-Taillon.

Second plant

The Mexican orders added to those from Quebec will force the construction of a second plant. For the moment, everything indicates that it will be built in Saint-Henri-de-Taillon, just like the first factory. The businessman, Marco Tremblay, hopes for an operation next fall. For him, the fulfillment of Mexican contracts does not necessarily require a second factory.

According to Mr. Tremblay, who wants to keep production in Quebec, a new plant would make it possible to produce the equivalent of fifteen houses a day. A dozen employees could be added to the fifteen already in place.
